Getting Pooped On
Acrylic on canvas, 2000. One of the pleasures of the first year of parenting is learning the intricacies of poop. There are good poops, bad poops, difficult poops. They can be wattery, acidic, stinky or sweet smelling. Often a good poop provides a sense of relief, or reassurance that baby is doign well. This particular piece is part of a series dealing with the first year of parenting. More to come
No Tears
Watercolor, 2000. Who can resist a little one with a sad face? The beauty in being mom or dad is the ability to make it all better.
Bedside
Watercolor on paper. A big part of being a physician is simply knowing how to comfort, both patient and family. I was trying to achieve a sense of warmth and kindness eminating from both the doc and the mother.
Cassandra's Bedtime
Acrylic on Canvas. Her four year birthday present. I often sit with Cassandra to help her go to sleep at night. Most of the time I can stay awake longer than her. I was hoping the swirly texture and soft, dark colors would provide a dream-like, cozy, somewhat surreal feeling appropriate for bedtime.
Devon's Dandelion
Watercolor. Her three year birthday present. Devon seems to have a thing for dandelions.
Cassandra Drawing
Acrylic on canvas. This day she was using my scetchbook and some of my very delicate metal tipped dip-pens. Needless to say, I think her work is brilliant.
Hyacinth Reading to the Girls
Pen and Ink. Just a quick scetch while the girls were sitting still. I was also playing with my new, extremely cool, pen and ink set.
